OK, I have to admit: In my pre-motherhood days, I didn't get why it was such a big deal when babies roll over. So what? I thought, and chalked it up to the fact that over-zealous parents get a little too excited about every coo and giggle. But as soon as we had Taka, I realized the big deal. Before that crucial roll-over moment, babies can't move! They're just stuck in one place, on their backs, waving their arms and legs around. Now, as this video shows, our little Taka is getting tired of being in one place -- he's ready to get somewhere. And Mama? Well, she's just as excited and proud as can be!

mom's turn
After our successful trip to Daddy's office, we decided to brave the drive to White Plains to see where Mama works. Taka was a big hit in his new little outfit! He met about 50 people, give or take, only a few of whom are pictured. And he did great -- stayed in a very good mood for almost the entire time (only got a little mad when there was a slight delay with nursing him for the 4th time!). The trip lasted a little longer than expected, but it worked out great: both a.m. & p.m. naps happened in the car seat, along the oh-so-soothing BQE.

Today is what?
Hisa and I, just this minute, remembered that today is our 6 year anniversary. Wow, I guess having a kid really does change everything! Well, no better way to celebrate, really. We had a nice quiet weekend with Taka. Yesterday morning Hisa took the reins -- and a new bottle that Taka loves -- for the morning, while I indulged myself with my first yoga class since November (that is, a regular, non-pre-natal, non-mommy/baby class!). Taka enjoyed the down time, too. In these pictures, he's practicing a little tummy time (and doing some full-on push-ups!) and helping Hisa figure out where to hang the artwork.

"Uh, no Daddy, I don't think that's quite right."

Taka takes Manhattan
Taka paid Daddy a visit at the office today! His first subway ride (he slept the entire time). Then he met lots of new friends before lunch in Central Park (he fell asleep again for that part). Mommy enjoyed the trip into Manhattan -- first time in about 2 1/2 months (not counting doctor visits by car) -- but came home exhausted. But not too exhausted to post pics for baby's first real NYC outing! (RUR guys -- if I didn't post your picture, don't worry, it will be in the next slideshow, or we will email them to you. No room for all the great pics we got!)
Oh, and yes, the general consensus does seem to be that Taka takes after his daddy! (But that's just because you all can't see the back of his head in the pictures.)

2 months in the life of Taka
Taka is 2 months old today! We've finally set up a site for our family and friends to keep tabs on our little guy as he gets bigger (and bigger...)
Taka had his 2-month check-up today. He weighed in at a hefty 15 pounds 2 ounces -- placing him in the 97th percentile! (Must be all that nursing. Hey, I have nothing better to do, right?!) His head is also big -- lots of room for brain! -- at 9 3/4 inches. And he's now 24 inches tall.
These days Taka loves his bouncy seat, his play mat, and his pre-bedtime massages. We also finally broke out the stroller on Saturday! Lots of new pictures -- check out the slideshow!
